Week 7: Thing 19: Web 2.0 Awards

I enjoyed exploring some of these tools and will do some more exploring in future because there is a wealth of information there. Apart of the sites that we already used during past exploration exercises, such as http://technorati.com/ , http://www.bloglines.com/, http://www.librarything.com/, http://www.zoho.com/, http://www.flickr.com/, etc., I discovered some new tools that I might use in future, such as:
http://www.upcoming.yahoo.com/ - listing of events, you can look for events or add a new event
http://www.onesentence.org/ - furn true stories told in one sentence
http://www.43things.com/- online foal setting; record your progress, cheer people
http://www.yelp.com/ - useful information about US cities
http://www.judysbook.com/ - lists deals by areas
http://realtravel.com/ - you may plan your next trip and explore travel guide
I also plan to explore in future http://www.go2web20.net/

I find Zoho a great tool because it incorporates a lot of elements: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations. The good thing is that you can access your files from any place connected to the Internet.
And I am so happy that I could post two documents to my blog.

Shared document

Document
This is the first document that I create using a web-based application. The principle seems very interesting because one can create and share documents on-line with no need to install software; multiple users can edit the same file.coolkiss

Week 6 - Wikis

I find wikis http://www.libsuccess.org/index.php?title=Main_Page a very helpful collaborative endeavor, in the sense that it allows cooperation and sharing of ideas. Of course, there is the problem of the open content that can be edited by everybody, hence there might be errors.
One useful usage for wikis would be when a group of librarians is working on the same project.
I liked the idea of the Book Lovers Wiki where customers can add their own reviews on the wiki . It could be used in correlation with a book club.

Week 5-thing 15 Rollyo

It took me some time to make my Rollyo work, but finally, here it is.
I think Rollyo can be used to create and save customized searches of your favorite websites; Rollyo can replace the well-known bookmarks; the difference is that you will be able to access your bookmarks from any computer; you can also explore and save searchscrolls created by others people.
