I have been using Facebook for a while in order to keep in touch with my family and friends. I joined some groups and for this exercise I joined Library 2.0 interest group and Librarians on Facebook. I added many applications on facebook just for the fun of it.

OverDrive

I bought an MP3 especially to download audiobooks. It was when we had access to netLibrary's eaudiobooks. I used to download eaudiobooks and listen to them while walking. OverDrive is better than nothing, but it doesn't offer the variety found through netLibrary.
I could use OverDrive http://broward.lib.overdrive.com/
on the public computers, since they allow for the OverDrive media console to be downloaded. When you place a hold you will receive an email saying that the title will be in your account for downloading for two days. I managed to download and even burn books on a CD. Over Drive has a very extensive Help menu that covers all the aspects of using, installing the software and downloading the titles.

Podcasts

I am subscribed to some podcasts for learning Italian; since podcasts are usually used for short presentations, I think they are a useful tool for learning a foreign language, in the sense that one can hear a native speak the language.
I looked at Podcast.net, Podcastelley and Yahoo podcasts. Libraries publish podcasts to announce weekly programs, storytime podcasts, public lectures, read chapters from books (Library Lady Audiobooks), headline news from the library world (LibeVibe).

On Bloglines I subscribed to Audioilibri podcast, where one can listen to chapters from classic literature.

Youtube

I have been using You tube for a while in order to find some of my favorite artists and songs. I think that it's a very useful site to browse and find original creations or if one is up to it advertize oneself.
I chose this particular video because Eugenio Bennato(the song is called Grande Sud) participated at the San Remo music festival this year and after listening some of the songs that won, i liked his the most, although he receive only the 10th place.

Week 7: Thing 19: Web 2.0 Awards

I enjoyed exploring some of these tools and will do some more exploring in future because there is a wealth of information there. I find Zoho a great tool because it incorporates a lot of elements: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations. The good thing is that you can access your files from any place connected to the Internet.
And I am so happy that I could post two documents to my blog.

This is the first document that I create using a web-based application. The principle seems very interesting because one can create and share documents on-line with no need to install software; multiple users can edit the same file.
